About the Lucy Burns Institute

The Lucy Burns Institute (LBI) is a Wisconsin not-for-profit corporation. LBI incorporated in December 2006.

LBI is dedicated to sharing information, guidance, practical advice, legal developments and news about open records at the state and local level. We're interested in hearing about and helping you with your state or local-level public records projects and requests. Please see our contact page for ways to reach us.

LBI is also developing materials for ordinary citizens who want to use the internet to share information about local units of government--cities, counties and school districts. Blogs and wikis, as opposed to static websites whose content only changes infrequently, can be good choices for neighborhood groups and individuals to use in developing well-ordered and easily accessible libraries of information about local units of government.
